Morning news and notes for Thursday, Dec. 12.

Tax bills due today. Amherst's tax bills are due back to the tax collector no later than today, Dec. 12, in order to avoid interest penalties assessed for late payments. Due to the construction at Town Hall, the Tax Office has been temporarily relocated to the Central Fire Station at 177 Amherst St.  To pay your tax bill in person, you may do so at the temporary location between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Memory tree.
The Humane Society for Greater Nashua is starting a new event this year a way to remember our pet family members that have passed with a memory tree lighting. It will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 5-6 p.m. at the shelter, 24 Ferry Road in Nashua. For a $20 donation to the shelter, you will receive a ribbon to place on our tree, one to take home, and have your pet’s name mentioned during the tree lighting ceremony. Get more information about the memory tree lighting ceremony here.

Go sledding next to the Green Monster. Frozen Fenway is taking visitors to new heights this year with a planned 20-foot high, 75-foot long sledding and tubing ramp called the "Monster Sled," according to a story on NECN. Stationed next to the Green Monster left field wall, Monster Sled will include five separate paths that end at the Red Sox bullpen. Further information about getting tickets to visit the sledding hill will come from the mayor's office, however, according to the Red Sox, Monster Sled will be available to rent for groups of up to 100 people. For more information, call 617-226-6791 or email events@redsox.com.
