2014 Amherst Town Meeting Voters Guide

Be sure to check here often for the latest information concerning the 2014 Amherst Town Meeting and election.

Amherst's town and school elections will take place on Tuesday, March 11. The town deliberative session will be held on , and the school deliberative sessions will be held on Saturday, Feb 1.

Between now and March 11, Amherst Patch will be your go-to, one-stop shop for everything related to town and school elections, candidates, warrant articles and other happenings. This page will serve as the landing spot, with important information and links.

Currently, the Board of Selectmen, the Amherst School Board and the Souhegan Co-Operative School Board are finalizing their proposed 2014-2015 Town Budget and the proposed 2014-2015 Amherst School Budget and the proposed Souhegan Co-Operative School District budget before they will go before voters. This page will be updated with new information and links when they become available.

SATURDAY, FEB 1: Amherst School Budget Deliberative Session - 11 a.m., Souhegan High School Auditorium. Souhegan Co-Operative School District budget Deliberative Session, 9 a.m., Souhegan High School Auditorium.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 5: Town Meeting - Deliberative Session, 7 p.m., Souhegan High School Auditorium.

WEDNESDAY, FEB 12: Amherst Candidates Night, Town Hall, 7 p.m.

TUESDAY, March 11: Annual Town Meeting and Town Election.

Town Meeting is held at Souhegan High School.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The following is a complete list of town and school offices that will be decided on March 11. Links to candidate profiles will be posted as soon as candidates submit them to Amherst Patch.

Town Offices up for Election:

  • Cemetery Trustee Marie Grella is running for another three years .
  • Selectman Tom Grella is also running for another three year term.
  • Moderator Stephen Coughlin hopes to get re-elected for another two years.
  • Library Trustee Nancy Head, who served as an alternate in 2013, is running for a three-year term.
  • Newcomer Kimberly Ayers is seeking a three year term on the Board of Library Trustees.
  • Trustee of the Trust Funds Kenneth Sheldon hopes to serve another three years.
  • Supervisor of the Checklist Jeanne Ludt is seeking another six years in office.

Amherst School Board:

Two School Board Members for 3 years

One School District Moderator for 3 years

One School District Treasurer for 3 years

One School District Clerk for 3 years

Souhegan School District (Amherst resident):

Two School Board Members for 3 years

Filing period for town and school district offices will be held from Jan. 22 to Friday, Jan. 31 at 5 p.m.
