Police Want Public's Help to Locate Hit and Run Driver

Amherst Police driver's vehicle may have sustained front end damage to a head lamp.

Amherst Police are asking for the public's help to locate the driver of the vehicle that was involved in a hit and run accident that killed a 71-year-old man on Monday afternoon.

According to an Amherst Police press release, police officers responded to a reported hit and run accident around 1 p.m. and found the man severely injured in a snowbank on Merrimack Road just east of the intersection of Merrimack and Corduroy roads.

Amherst Police said the victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle involved is believed to have headed west and the vehicle may have sustained front end damage, specifically to a front passenger head lamp.
