Six Shaw's supermarkets will close by Sept. 2 as part of an effort to increase overall company profitability, according to WMURThe Milford location is safe, but others are heading to the chopping block.

WMUR has reported that the Seabrook, Goffstown, Manchester, Tilton, West Lebanon and Keene locations "have not been profitable for some time."

A Shaw's spokesman told WMUR that the closures "are not a result of the overall health of the company" and that the company doesn't have plans to close any of the other 28 New Hampshire locations.

The decision comes roughly one month after the chain announced it would end its rewards card program and cut prices across the company.
