'When Alex Makes It Into the Top 3'

Mont Vernon, Amherst and New Hampshire are showing their spirit for American Idol finalist Alex Preston.

American Idol finalist Alex Preston's hometown of Mont Vernon, the Souhegan Valley and New Hampshire at large are showing their gusto ahead of the big vote announcement Thursday night on FOX.

"When Alex makes it into the Top 3" reads the banner script on Mont Vernon's town website.

Preston, who graduated from Souhegan High and attended a year at the University of New Hampshire before moving to Nashville to pursue his music and American Idol dreams, is scheduled to be at Mont Vernon Town Hall on Saturday, May 10, for a brief ceremony at 1:30 p.m., according to the town.

The plan is for Preston to play a song or two at Mont Vernon as part of his whirlwind "homecoming tour," which includes a visit to the Statehouse, a parade in Durham and a free concert at the Whittemore Center at UNH.

A slightly bigger event is at Souhegan High school – everyone from Amherst and Mont Vernon area is welcome – at around 2:30 p.m.
