Ok so all this security for the marathon, what about the platform of train stations, parks duringRead More lunch, outdoor concerts, parades and charity walks? Give me a break. All this police presence and money spent and overtime is a scare tactic and can't possibly deter someone determined to carry anything out.

There should be special courts for psych cases just as there are special courts for financial,Read More maritime, juvenile, family and other specific types. This does not mean getting off with any difference in time, but it would mean a more accurate routing and disposition of the individuals. In many cases people do not want to change and would rather be sent to standard jails eventually released and still a danger to society.
John Dumas April 18, 2014 at 11:04 am
Some people do not have even an ember of empathy and need more separation from others and extendedRead More treatment, maybe life long, this may or may not be a case. And, many people just do not have a sense of proportionate response. No matter how trivial the response is irrationally disproportionate.

Typical bar scene, animals drinking and fighting. Wait for summer at the shore this year.

This is not local news. Why is this article here?
Laurel Anderson April 18, 2014 at 10:09 am
Nothing Is local on here anymore. Terrible decision to drop local editors for this junk no one caresRead More about. I used to love how we knew everything going on around here from the patch. Now nothing...horrible, horrible decision! !!! I keep hoping someone starts their own patch type of thing. I will be dropping this one.
James Property LLC April 18, 2014 at 10:21 am
And we don't get any local news. Oxford Patch did not report the burglary's in Oxford.

I am forced to pay, you want him/her alive you pay. People have no problem ripping a baby out of aRead More mother and killing it. But we have to keep murderers alive?

What Happens when these convicted scumbags that are sentenced to life without the Posibility ofRead More parole KILL someone while in Prison. What will their sentence be? Will you take Hobby Craft Time away from them??? Will you not allow them their dessert? Stop coddling these scumballs and execute them. I am also for the execution of Child Predators as well. It's disturbing that the Liberal's in this Country are AGAINST KILLING CONVICTED MURDERER'S but have NO ISSUE with KILLING THE UNBORN!!!!!

what else would you expect from this ugly fat loser monkey she should be shot right away- no jailRead More time but dead within 10 minutes of verdict- you wonder why there is so much racism- well here is a prime example of why there is all of it in this country- that monkey is to fat to swing in the trees
L.B. April 18, 2014 at 10:18 am
I agree with the Judge completely

Right and going by the fine which was 589 times the cost of the soda, BP, that did so much damage toRead More the Gulf should be fined .... 2Billion X 589 .... right, not in the Corporate States of America. That isn't going to happen. How about we apply that same fine to Wall Street .. hell they damn near wrecked the world's economy and have you seen any fines near 589 times the damage done? Direct your ire to the right people ...

Stealing is stealing and it costs all of us. People who eat the grapes at the grocery store withoutRead More paying for them, are stealing! Every item stolen adds up to added costs to everyone. I would have told this person to pay up first before the fine but the fine is always going to be more than the item. The fine is prevent the person from doing it again. Parking in my city overnight on the street used to be a $5 fine and so many people did. They have since raised the fines. This winter those overnight cars caused a lot of problems. They could not remove the snow with cars on the street. People don't think of the consequences before doing something wrong. Yes, people do things that are wrong but why does this it right? The 89 cents is really cheap for a soda so it makes sense that they don't allow refills for free. I have seen people using soda machines with their own cups. It ends up costing me for being honest. Eat me!
carrie April 18, 2014 at 11:06 am
This is ridiculous. Let the guy pay on site. Waste of tax payers money. Theft is wrong, but this forRead More some reason seems different as many restaurants do give free refills.

Horses should not be nose to exhaust pipe on city streets. That is cruelty and the horse had hadRead More enough.

A horse and carriage ride in a park, fine. But not on busy, crowded city streets. It's cruel to theRead More horse and dangerous to everyone else. I'm with the NYC mayor on this one.

When taxes are imposed on various industries then to stay in business the prices increase on theRead More consumer! Obamacare , gas taxes, payroll taxes, tolls, the proposed soda and candy tax , your tobacco tax is 75% of what the product really costs! Commercial Property tax increases! Do you people see what's going on here? This country is being destroyed by the Democrats! It is starting to resemble The a Soviet Union! We should change the name of this country to the USSA!

It Does make you wonder why the FDA would approve a NEW and CONTROVERSIAL pain medicine that has aRead More higher potency than drugs that are on the market today but DOESN'T HAVE THE SAFEGUARDS TO PREVENT OTHER USES. This new drug is called ZOHYDRO. This is an excerp from the article I used for research on this topic ""In the midst of a severe drug epidemic fueled by overprescribing of opioids, the very last thing the country needs is a new, dangerous, high-dose opioid," the coalition wrote in a letter to FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg." http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/26/health/zohydro-approval/ Please take the time to educate yourself about this new drug.

These numbers you are quoting are SKEWED. The NH Department Of Employment Security has NO WAY ofRead More tracking the people that exhausted their unemployment benefits. Which makes them drop off the rolls of the unemployed. I know of several people that fall under this category. Maybe you can dig a little deeper @Dan Tuohy when you are posting an article on the NEWS portion of Patch. Unless you have an ULTERIOR MOTIVE of being a lapdog to to Maggie "Tax & Spend" Hassan that is the most INEPT Governor in NH's history.
jpf2361 April 15, 2014 at 01:42 pm
What has Maggie "Tax & Spend" Hassan done with regard to job creation to qualify herRead More to make the follow statement?? "Gov. Maggie Hassan (D-Exeter) said the data shows good progress. In a statement, she said: "Today’s announcement that participation in the labor force continued to increase while New Hampshire’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.5 percent in March, more than two points below the national average, is another encouraging sign that our economy is continuing to strengthen, allowing businesses to grow and create jobs. To keep our economy moving forward, we must remain committed to addressing our challenges by working together on bipartisan solutions in order to strengthen the middle class, support job-creating businesses and encourage innovative economic growth that will allow all of our people to share in our success and prosperity." **************************************************How does RAISING THE GAS TAX qualify as JOB CREATION. How does raiding the existing supposed DEDICATED GAS TAX MONIES qualify as creating jobs? How does Maggie raiding the Rainy Day fund qualify as creating jobs? Raising Taxes and raiding funds has the reverse effect. It stifles jobs creation and forces layoffs as it increases the cost of doing business in NH for many NH Businesses. @Dan Tuohy Why don't you write an article that TELLS WHAT IS ACTUALLY GOING ON IN NH FOR A CHANGE??? Instead of Kissing Maggie Hassan's INEPT butt!!!!!
jpf2361 April 15, 2014 at 02:13 pm
Maggie TAX & SPEND Hassan is the most INEPT Governor NH has ever had in it's History!!! How doesRead More the expansion of Medicaid to 80,000 people secure the Miiddle Class here in NH? Especially once the Feds stop paying for this program. This FOOLISH program will lead to a a SALES TAX OR INCOME TAX OR BOTH and once the Fed's stop paying 100% for this program the CRAP WILL HIT THE FAN. Mark my Words!! NH is in for a RUDE AWAKENING once this happens, we will have LOST OUR TAX ADVANTAGE and you will see NH Companies leaving in Droves for a better deal from another State that will be happy to give them tax breaks to employ their citizens.
