Souhegan Girls Net Second Championship in 3 Years

Souhegan ends tremendous season with just three losses and one tie.

Souhegan High School's varsity girls soccer team on Saturday celebrated its second Div. II state championship win in the last three years.

The team defeated Pembroke Academy 2-0 to earn the title.

Both of the team's goals came from the foot of senior Peyton Kent who, according to a story in the Nashua Telegraph, also scored the game winner for the team's 2011 state championship.

The team had a standout season, losing only three games and tying one, which enabled them to enter the playoffs seeded third in the state. They defeated Hanover, Goffstown and Lebanon in the first three rounds of the tournament to make it to the final game against ninth-seeded Pembroke.
