School Board Filing Period to Open

Town Meeting voters in Amherst and Mont Vernon will decide several races on three school boards at the March 11 Town Meeting in both towns.

The filing period for several SAU 39 School Board seats in Amherst, Mont Vernon and for the Souhegan Co-Operative School Board are scheduled to open this week.

According to the SAU 39 web site, Amherst School Board candidates can file their papers beginning on Wednesday, Jan 22 through Friday, Jan 31 at 5 p.m. There are four offices that will be decided by Amherst Town Meeting voters on March 11:

  • Two School Board Members - 3 years
  • One School District Moderator - 3 year
  • One School District Treasurer - 3 years
  • One School District Clerk - 3 years

There are two elected seats on the Souhegan Co-Operative School District Board that will be decided at the Amherst and Mont Vernon Town Meeting elections.

  • Two School Board Members (Amherst residents) - 3 years
  • One School Board Member (Mont Vernon resident) - 3 years

There are also four elected officials for the Mont Vernon School Board that will be decided by voters in that community at Town Meeting:

  • School District Treasurer - 1 years
  • School District Moderator - 1 years

All candidates who are either running for the first time or are seeking re-election for the Amherst and Souhegan Co-Operative School District Board must file their papers with the SAU 39 School District Clerk Nancy Baker.

Mont Vernon School Board candidates must file their papers with Mont Vernon School District Clerk Sue Leger.
