Marchant Departs Amherst for Nashua Job

Marchant will become Community Development Director for the city of Nashua.

Amherst Community Development Director Sarah Marchant is leaving town to become Community Development director for Nashua.

Marchant served Amherst in the role for the past two years, in which time she was in charged of Building, Code Enforcement, Planning, Zoning and Economic Development departments. She will remain in her current job through May 8.

"I have had the privilege to work with a tremendous team of colleagues and volunteers and appreciate the many lessons and opportunities for growth the position in Amherst has presented me with," Marchant said in an announcement via the town of Amherst.

Dwight Drew, chairman of the Amherst Board of Selectmen, said, "In a short amount of time, Sarah has made a tremendous impact on our town. She is leaving our Office of Community Development much better off than she found it. It’s difficult to compete with a city like Nashua in terms of the breadth of exposure or the scale of projects. This is an excellent professional opportunity for her.  I speak for the entire Board in thanking Sarah and wishing her continued success. Nashua will be well served."
In Nashua, Marchant will head up the Community Development Division for the city of Nashua, overseeing the Department of Building Safety, Planning Department, Code Enforcement, Urban Programs, and Transportation.

"Nashua is a great city,” Marchant said in a press release. "I am excited to be joining their team and look forward to meeting the challenges this opportunity will bring."

Before working in Amherst, Marchant was the Town Planner and GIS Coordinator for the Town of Milford.
