New 30-Home Development Coming to Amherst

The housing proposal will go before the zoning board this week.

A new 30-home development being proposed for Route 101 will go before the Zoning Board of Adjustment this week.

The developers are looking for a waiver from the 100-foot setback requirements, allowing them to build residential units within 50 feet of Route 101. The area is heavily wooded, and the applicants argue that a 50-foot setback would be sufficient.

The listed applicants are Terry and Kelly Connor of Amherst, and they are represented by attorney Thomas Quinn and Ken Clinton of Meridian Land Services.

A special exception allow the construction of the approximately 30 units was granted back on Jan. 3. Full plans have not been submitted to the town yet.

The request will be heard by the zoning board on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at The Brick School, 1 School St. Also on the meeting agenda is a request for withdrawal of a special exception approval for a veterinary center on Route 101.
