Amherst Town Employee Wages 2012

Employee and elected official's wages/payroll reports are now available for the public.

The Town of Amherst has posted a gross payroll report for the past two years in a move to increase transparency.

The PDF above contains the gross wages for full-time, part-time, on call and paid elected positions in 2012. It also includes the date the employees were hired.

The following are the top five salaries posted last year:

1. James O'Mara - Town Administrator: $106,922.05
2. Peter Lyon - Police Chief (now retired): $106,141.78
3. Brian Gleason - EMS Director: $99,824.18
4. Mark Reams - Police Lieutenant (promoted to chief in 2012): $89,541.71
5. Mark Boynton - Fire Chief: $86,238.29

Selectmen have been making an effort towards a more open government in recent months. The posting of wages on the town's website is a part of this transparency effort

"The Amherst Board of Selectmen understand the importance of government transparency. In an effort to educate its citizens on where taxpayer’s dollars are spent throughout the years, they have developed an initiative to publicly post annual employee and elected official’s wages/payroll reports."
