New Amherst Sergeant Sworn In

Patrick Webster was officially promoted at the selectmen meeting on Monday.

The Amherst Police Department swore in a new sergeant on Monday.

Detective Patrick Webster was sworn in as the department's new sergeant at the selectmen meeting Monday night.

Amherst Police Chief Mark Reams said that the rank of sergeant is one of the "most meaningful" promotions his department offers, and takes a lot of hard work to achieve. He said that Webster's skill and achievements will serve the town well.

Webster has been with working with the department for 15 years after starting as an intern in 1996. He said that it "feels great" to be promoted and is looking forward to working in his new position.
