Off to School?

Here's a question for you - what's the best piece of advice you can offer to a parent who is sending their first child off to kindergarten?

My advice would be to help your child develop good studying and organizational habits. When my girls were young I would have them sit at the kitchen table to do their homework and before they went to bed everything had to be put in their backpack and the next days clothing laid out. It didn't always go smoothly but it helped.

Put a smile on your face and tell them to have fun and you will see them later. So many parents have negative feelings and the children pick up on this. Let the child have this as a happy time; the first of many adventures in their life without you. Don't let your feelings overshadow what they should feel calm and content with.
