Milford Artist Dies at Age 90

A celebration of Mary M. Vassallo's life will be held on March 15.

Mary M. Vassallo, 90, resident of Milford, NH died on February 20, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Buffalo, New York on October 1, 1923, a daughter of Raymond F. & Valeria (Kaminska) Pech. Mary was raised and educated in Buffalo, NY and had lived in Midland, Michigan for many years and has made her home in Milford, NH for the past 16 years.

She was an accomplished artist whose specialties included watercolor, acrylic, oil and collage for which she earned numerous honors and awards. Her memberships included the Midland Water Color Society, Michigan Watercolor Society and Midland Artists Guild. Mary was accepted in several juried shows and exhibits. Locally, she was a member of The Keyes Art Group of Southern NH and participated in many shows and activities. She was an amazing woman…genuine, caring, gentle, always putting everyone else's needs first.

She always made time to listen with compassion and understanding and was very supportive. Mary was a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lori F. Vassallo. Family members include her loving husband of 67 years, Thomas C. Vassallo of Milford, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas F. & Kemberley Vassallo of Amherst, NH; three grandchildren, Christopher Vassallo and his wife, Allison of San Diego, CA, Lorie Rucker, and T. Hayden Vassallo, both of Amherst; a great granddaughter, Emeline Rucker of Amherst; a sister, Dorothy Williams of Suffolk, VA; several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Ledgewood Bay, 43 Ledgewood Terrace, Milford, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SHARE, 1 Columbus Ave, Milford, NH 03055.
