Souhegan Cooperative School Board Sets Additional Goals

During the 2012-13 school year, the Souhegan Cooperative School Board committed to increasing our communication with the the citizens of Mont Vernon and Amherst.  We were very pleased with the feedback from those communications, particularly during our budget process.  We have continued our commitment to increased communication, and have established additional goals to help us do our job well.  They are as follows:

1.     Budget Analysis - The board formed a study committee made up of board members, the Superintendent, SAU and high school administrators.  The committee is taking a comprehensive, data driven look at our budget focussing primarily on the components making up our cost per pupil.
2.     Academic Excellence - Board members, along with SAU and high school administrators, will be analyzing how to better enhance academic strengths of students at Souhegan, while addressing areas of improvement.
3.     Professional Staff Evaluations - We are in the middle of developing a comprehensive SAU wide teacher and administrator evaluation process.  In the meantime, with the Superintendent’s support, we are ensuring that our staff has the observations and feedback they want and need.
4.     Review and Update of Administrative Hiring Policies - The Board, administration and personnel representatives are working together to ensure we are using best hiring practices.
5.     SAU Strategic Planning - We have pledged our commitment to the work the SAU Board is engaged in to come up with a Strategic Plan for all of Mont Vernon and Amherst students.

The Board wants to ensure we are doing the best job possible for our students and the communities who elected us.  We welcome your feedback and support.
