Amherst Police Officer Takes to the Ice for CHaD

Police and firefighters from Nashua, Hudson, Londonderry, Amherst, Portsmouth, Seabrook and many other communities will take to the ice for the 7th annual CHaD Battle of the Badges Hockey Championship at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester on Saturday to benefit the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

Representatives of police and fire departments from communities around the state will bring their skills to this spirited match-up of good vs. good, including Badge’s Team Police player Amherst Police Officer Kevin Kelly.

Team Fire will be led by Lt. Micky Drouin of the Dover Fire & Rescue, and Team Police by Lt. Pete Favreau of the Manchester Police Department. Both captains have played a lead role in the game since 2008.

Players dedicate themselves to several practices and a featured game in front of thousands of roaring fans. Each player pledges to raise $1,500 to demonstrate their passion and support for CHaD’s mission to serve the region’s children. CHaD helps players connect with the cause behind the game by pairing them with “CHaD Buddies,” young CHaD patients who serve as special guests on gameday.

More than 5,500 families, friends, CHaD supporters, and hockey fans are expected to fill the Verizon Wireless to cheer on their local heroes and raise support for CHaD. Fans can get into the action by contributing to player fundraising and by wearing red or blue on gameday to cheer for their community’s local heroes.
