The Power of Angels, Kitty Angels Fundraiser

Treasures Antiques, Collectables & MORE! will be the place to be on the weekend of May 3rd & 4th, as preparations for their annual Kitty Angels Fundraiser and adoption days are heating up. This event, their 20th, continues to grow and will run both days from 9AM to 5PM rain or shine.

Kitty Angels, Inc., a no-kill cat shelter, has been the beneficiary of these awesome events at Treasures, not only gaining much needed funds but getting quite a number of the countless felines in their care, adopted into loving “forever homes.” Kitty Angels, Inc. itself, is made up of only unpaid volunteers and is dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned cats, furnishing them with treatment for injuries or other health issues and then placing them into these “forever homes” with compatible owners.

All steps are taken to insure the well being of the cats, including screening for infectious diseases, spaying and neutering, providing rabies, distemper and other necessary vaccinations. They are a non-profit, charitable corporation where all donations are fully tax-deductible and every penny of every donation is used in the caring of cats. (View their website at: www.kittyangels.org).

Also attending the event will be representatives of the Amherst Animal Hospital, who has helped Kitty Angels over the last 20 plus years by taking care of hundreds of the worst case kitty patients; some sadly mangled or critically ill and given them a second chance at life. They will be available to explain their services and to answer any questions you may have concerning the kitties or any other pet/animal.

The 2013 event had 138 amazing vendors who filled the grounds surrounding Treasures in an entertaining crafts, flea market, yard sale and county-fair type atmosphere. ‘The New England Brethren of Pirates,’ a reenactment and improve troupe, will be back, entertaining guests as characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, selling hand-made and pirate themed wares and playing fun, pirate themed games with children. One of the newest features this year will be the addition of the ‘General Lee,’ a Dodge Charger, from the ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ and the ‘Son of Trigger,’ a 1981Pontiac Trans Am Turbo from ‘Smokey and the Bandit ll.’ These cars are sponsored by Graphic Signworks of Nashua. Bring your smile and have a picture taken with the cars! ‘Sillie Puffs’ will have gourmet cotton candy, grilled foods and Chilli Sillie shaved ice! Be sure to check in with ‘Pet Pawlicy,’ and get your four legged loved ones some health insurance!

Other attendees will include ‘Anthony Acres Kitty Cat Farm,’ ‘Laurel Hill Jams & Jellies,’ ‘Valentine Seeds’ will have heirloom plants, seeds, their Finicky Fowl Poultry Treats and Heritage Poultry for display. ‘Cluck & Baa Farm will be making 100% natural hand-spun yarns made from their own sheep’s wool, angora rabbit or alpaca. ‘Starbucks,’ will supply the coffee. As always, all pets are welcomed, too.

In addition, there will be other skilled artisans & crafters, even a whimsical face painter. There will be baked goods and other natural product foods, and a growing list of other vendors as they steadily continue to sign on. Along with the various “yard sale” items that can be found, you’ll be guaranteed to uncover a bargain for yourself, your pet, your home, or your garden sanctuary including jewelry, candles, soap, florals, sports, clothing and much, much more.

The folks at ‘Nevejans Farm” of Tyngsboro, MA, will once again, bring along a petting zoo, including lambs, sheep, turkeys (be sure to meet Marshmellow), chickens and even goats. Always a big hit with kids of all ages!

An electrifying raffle, of numerous and diverse prizes, will be featured throughout the fundraising weekend and into the month of June. The raffle has always been a successful draw in raising added funds for this event. All prizes were generously donated by local and national businesses. Many other supporters (over the years) have included businesses and groups such as 97.5 WOKQ-FM, Clark & Leighton/P.C. Dentistry, Stephen Marx Hair Salon, Arubacat, Jakes Home-Made Ice Cream, Darcy Klein who makes custom pet clothes and also, Deion’s Delicacies by pastry chef Deion! There have been musical bands, caricature artists, massage therapists and even an acupuncturist.

This annual fundraising event for “Kitty Angels, Inc.” is the “pet” charity of Treasures’ owners, Rick & Sherry Tobin. To date, their fundraising efforts have far exceeded $40,000.

If you’d like to make a donation through Treasures, but can’t come to the event that weekend, you may send a check or money order made out to Treasures (with a note in your memo section: “Kitty Angels, Inc.”). The address is Treasures Antiques, Collectables & MORE! 106 Ponemah Road, Amherst, NH 03031. If you can’t make a monetary donation at this time, but would like to help, material donations will be happily accepted, such as postage stamps, cat food (both dry and canned), kitty litter (non-scoopable preferred, but any litter is good litter), medical supplies, bedding (clean towels, blankets, quilts, clean denim and corduroy, quilted bedspreads), carriers, cleaning supplies including bleach, laundry detergent and paper towels, photocopy paper, cat toys and cat furniture as well as trash bags. You don’t have to wait for this event to drop off any donations for ‘Kitty Angels.’ You can do that any time the store is open, which is 10AM to 5PM every day.

This popular, annual fundraising event will not only benefit the kitties, but will provide you with fun, bargains, food, ideas and knowledge. You PAWSITIVELY have to attend. Hopefully, you can adopt a new, life-long, forever-friend as well.

Are you interested in being a vendor for the event? A donation of $30.00 is all you need for an outdoor space, and will cover both of the days! Contact Sherry at (603)-672-2535. Visit their website at www.TreasuresNH.com.
