Try New Recipes With Library Cookbook Club

New club starting at the end of January will include monthly potluck meals.

Do you.... Love to eat good food in the company of interesting people? Have dozens of cookbooks but only use a single recipe from them all? Tired of recycling the same dishes week after week?

The Friends of the Amherst Town Library are starting a cookbook book club. Each month we will pick a new cookbook to try. Members will each select a recipe to prepare and share with the group at the next meeting. At the pot luck we will discuss the cookbook: Were the recipes easy or difficult? Did the cookbook meet our expectations? Were the dishes consistently good throughout?

Each month we will try different types of cookbooks, some possible selections are:

  • Salads as Meals (particularly good after the holiday feasting)
  • Small-Batch Baking for Chocolate Lovers
  • Seduced by Bacon
  • Slow Cooker Revolution
  • Gluten-Free on a Shoestring
  • Vegan Cooking for Carnivores
  • 50 Great Curries of India

Come share your ideas and interests. For the first meeting we are asking each member to bring a favorite dish and a copy of the recipe to share. Together we will map out topics/cookbooks for the upcoming months. Every few months we can have a guest speaker or cooking workshop. We will publish the upcoming selections in advance so you can come only to the sessions that interest you.
