Souhegan Grad Survives Another Week on American Idol

Mont Vernon's own Alex Preston has won rave reviews from bloggers and the judges so far.

Souhegan High School graduate Alex Preston will live to sing another week on American Idol, as he was told within the first 10 minutes of Thursday night's show that he was safe.

The 20-year-old Mont Vernon resident performed the song "A Beautiful Mess" by Jason Mraz on Wednesday night. And though Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez liked it, Harry Connick Jr., the third judge, felt it was a bit too introspective.

Prior to Thursday night's results show, Preston Tweeted the following:

"About to head to the show. Whatever happens, happens. This is the best experience I've ever had. I am having a blast. Enjoy the show!"

Preston will get his next chance to impress America on Wednesday, March 5 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
