Souhegan Grad Moves on to American Idol's Top 13

Mont Vernon's own Alex Preston has won rave reviews from bloggers and the judges so far.

A day after he wowed the judges with his rendition of Damien Rice's "Volcano," viewers voted Souhegan High School graduate Alex Preston into American Idol's Top 13.

Preston was among 10 singers chosen by the public vote to move on. His name was called minutes into Thursday night's show. The judges then picked three wild cards to save after a sing-off, rounding out the Top 13.

Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Preston posted this straightforward message on Twitter: "Thank you. So much. Let's do this."

The 20-year-old Mont Vernon resident has won rave reviews from both bloggers and the American Idol judges for his performances thus far this season. He'll get his next chance to impress on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
