Join the Library for a Trip to the Peabody Essex Museum

Trip will be Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The Friends of the Amherst Town Library are planning a bus trip to the Peabody Essex Museum in January. View nearly 60 oil paintings, works on paper, models and small craft that deal with the element of water with works by Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Signac and Caillebotte - key impressionists who spent many hours at sea, on river boats, leisure craft and floating studios.

With Avant-Garde Japanese Fashion, see how Japanese designers reshaped fashion in the early 1980s. The narrow silhouettes of Western couture gave way to flowing, sculpted forms.

In the Gallery-turned Aviary, the artist introduces a flock of 70 brightly plumed Zebra Finches who live in a soundscape environment.  The Yin Yu Tang house is a late Qing Dynasty merchant’s house from southeastern China.

Cost is $38  – $24 for the bus, $12 entrance fee and $2 for driver gratuity.  A visit to the Chinese House costs $5, which will be paid separately at the museum. Lunch will be available in the Atrium Cafe.

Departure will be at 9 a.m. on Jan. 21 from the Meeting Place on Route 101. Return at 5 p.m. Checks can be made out to Friends of the Amherst Library and mailed to Jane Cosmo, 12 North Meadow, Amherst, NH 03031.  Please include your telephone and cell phone number.  Questions? Call 673-8718 or 673-3192.
