Former Town Librarian Has Art Exhibit Coming in December

Martha Bosco recently returned to painting after a 30-year hiatus.

December will start a six-week exhibit featuring Martha Bosco's oil and pastel paintings presented by the Friends of the Library on the main floor of the Amherst Town Library. The show is called "A Little Bit of Everything."

Bosco is no stranger to the library as she worked as a librarian for nearly 27 years.  She also has been a long time resident of Amherst. Many of the paintings Bosco will show are landscapes and architectural landscapes with a few other subjects.

Bosco was painting while she still lived in Ridgefield, Conn., where she was working with oil and watercolor.  She enjoyed exhibiting her early paintings in local juried shows before her move to New Hampshire.  Since retirement several years ago, Bosco has taken the opportunity to return to her passion for painting after a 30-year hiatus.

Recently, after experimenting with different mediums , I have  moved to pastels. I love working on a landscape, creating the lights and shadows of a rocky stream, a bright summer field or an interesting architectural scene. I truly am enjoying this renaissance of my interest in art and the exploration of new techniques.”

Bosco is currently studying the art of pastel with Randy Knowles in Manchester.  She participated recently in the "Inspiration of a Painting" at the library as well as at the Wild Salamander in Hollis, and E.W.Poore in Manchester.  Martha is a current a member of the Manchester Artist's Association.

The show will run from the beginning of December to the middle of January.  There will be an Artist Reception on Dec. 15, from 2-4 p.m., where you can meet and chat with Bosco while viewing her exhibit on the main floor of the Amherst Town Library.  For further information you can contact Martha at marthabosco2@gmail.com.
