Alex Preston Homecoming Day

Alex Preston Idol Events: Stops include Mont Vernon, Souhegan High, UNH.

The big day is here: Alex Preston, one of the final three competitors on American Idol, will be welcomed back home to New Hampshire in a couple of big events May 10.

Here are the big events:

  • 1:30 p.m. – Alex Preston, family and friends, and Gov. Maggie Hassan will participate in a ceremony at Mont Vernon Town Hall.
  • 2:30 p.m. – Celebration at Souhegan High School, with invites from Amherst-Mont Vernon area residents.
  • 4:30 p.m. – Parade in Durham, which is set to begin from the Oyster River Middle School. Route, according to UNH: Go down Garrison Avenue, right onto Main Street, and end at the Whittemore Center. Main Street will be closed between Garrison and Edgewood Road.
  • 7 p.m. – Free concert at the Whittemore Center at UNH.

UNH welcomes Preston (Class '15) back to campus with banner photo of him on the UNH website and a message:

"Alex Preston '15 took a leave from UNH to pursue musical stardom—and now he's coming back as an American Idol top-three finalist. Come out on Saturday to meet Alex and hear him perform some of the songs that have taken him to the top of this year's competition in advance of the show's May 21 finale."
