Alex Preston's 'Song of the Night'

Alex Preston, one of the five finalists for this season's American Idol competition, should be in the top four if judge Harry Connick Jr. has anything to say about it.

Connick, after Preston sang "Say Something" by Great Big World on Wednesday night, nodded approvingly: "For me that was the song of the night."

The five performers sang songs chosen for them by the American audience this week.

American Idol is on tonight, Thursday, at 9 p.m.
