Fundraiser Auction Offers Items Straight From The Heart

Hope For Gus' Time, Talent, and Treasure Auction will take place in Peterborough on Saturday.

Professional auctions can boast having the pricey and rare items, but this local auction offers something much more meaningful.

The Hope For Gus Foundation is hosting their Time, Talent, and Treasure Auction at the Monadnock Country Club in Peterborough this Saturday from at 7:30 p.m.

Items being auctioned for this good cause may not necessarily cost money, but have people's time, talent and heart included with them. For example, volunteers can donate eight hours of babysitting, fiddle playing at a party or a weekend at their lake cottage.

The Hope For Gus Foundation was formed by the Dreher family after their son Gus was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) at four-years-old. DMD is a rare, fatal genetic disorder that weakens the muscles in the body and affects 1 in 3,600 boys a year.

Hope For Gus said on their website that the purpose of this unique fundraiser is to raise money to find a cure for DMD, without donors having to spend money to help out.

"The options are endless!!! The idea is that people will get really creative, no one spends much (or no) money, we get a fun night out, and money is raised for Hope for Gus! There is so much talent and creativity in our community....This will be a really fun, community event."

If you have something to donate in the Time, Talent, or Treasure category, please call 464-9588 or email at hopeforgus@yahoo.com.
