Scholarship Applicants Wanted!

The Historical Society of Amherst is seeking high school seniors who have an interest and aptitude in history to apply for its annual "Marion Young Memorial Scholarship," named in honor of a longtime member and the original chairperson of our scholarship committee.

The 2013 winner was Souhegan High School senior Sean Tatar. Sean accepted the $1500 award at the Historical Society of Amherst's annual membership meeting, held at the Wigwam Museum in July. She is currently putting the scholarship to very good use as a Dean's List student at Clark University.

Applicants must be Amherst residents and graduating high school seniors (they may attend schools outside of Amherst) who will be enrolling in a post-secondary school to pursue a major in history or a related field. Thanks to the success of fundraising events including the Antiques on the Green, we are again able to offer a $1500 scholarship to a deserving applicant.
