NH House Finance Committee Chooses Politics Over Children

I think that your readers should be aware that on Tuesday, the House Finance Committee voted along party lines to derail a bill that would have removed the moratorium on public charter schools and helped to prevent the loss of approximately $5.6 million in federal funding.

The main proponent behind retaining the bill was Representative Dan Eaton who coincidentally was recorded on video tape last week discussing HB299. In the video, Representative Eaton thought HB299 would make a great political trump card for future negotiations. You can view the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7D_AJ2JpqA

It seems like a political move that essentially threw New Hampshire's children under the bus and threatens to play Russian roulette with millions in federal funding. I understand that the legislature can be a very challenging place however I think that what happened was wrong.
