Amherst Town Library Speaker Published Book

Linda King, a frequent speaker at area libraries, has published “The Joy of Getting It Done – 10 Tools to Help You Stop Wasting Time and Start Managing It.” This step-by-step guide offers realistic tools for tackling big projects and getting life’s logistics under control.
“The Joy of Getting It Done” is for people who are struggling with procrastination, daunting projects and creating workable routines in their lives. It provides help for people who know they need to make changes but don’t know where to start. The book outlines many simple ways to make change easier. For example, instead of tackling a huge project all at once, set a simple kitchen timer and work on the task for 20 minutes at a time. The author cleaned out her whole attic that way!
The book features goal-setting exercises and walks the reader step-by-step through the 10 Tools to create a comprehensive plan for change.
The advice is simple to implement, but not always obvious. One chapter covers “black holes” – those activities that suck you in, and once you start you can’t seem to stop. Black holes can derail even the best intentions.  The book helps the reader identify and deal with them. Just knowing what your black holes are can be the difference between staying on track and wasting hours or days.
“‘The Joy of Getting It Done’ is one of my most valuable resources,” writes Ellen Hill, a retired RN. “I’ve struggled all my life to keep things in order. It gave me the courage and tools to face the mess and start clearing it up. The Starting Small strategy got me unstuck and helped me take baby steps in the right direction. That has made all the difference. It feels so good to finally start accomplishing things.”
Linda King is a trained and certified Life Coach and ADHD Coach and who has spoken at multiple community and private venues, including the Amherst Town Library. Her article about time management for real estate professionals was published nationally in “Realtor® Magazine.”
