New Labelle Winery In Amherst Weeks Away From Launch

The winery's new location on Route 101 is just weeks away from opening day.

The grapes are planted, the building is almost complete and the finishing touches are just ahead for the new Labelle Winery in Amherst.

The winery’s new location on Route 101 in Amherst is scheduled to open to the public on Wednesday, Oct. 3, and the owners are looking forward to hosting a new community hot spot in town.

“Everything is full steam ahead,” said co-owner and cellar master Cesar Arboleda.

The new winery location will be able to produce four times the amount of wine than its previous location at Chestnut Hill Road in Amherst. They will have three new wine options included with their 25 varieties at launch: a white grape wine called Dry Riesling, a spiced dessert wine with vanilla, maple and cinnamon flavors called Dulce and their first-ever sparkling wine called Shimmer.

A full tasting room will be open Wednesdays through Sundays to sample their many varieties. A selection of cooking wines are also being prepared for the debut of the new winery.

Co-owner and winemaker Amy Labelle said that she is excited to feature wine-tini cocktails that blend their signature wines with a variety of ingredients to make something truly unique. For example, their Jack O’ Lantern drink mixes their apple maple wine with pumpkin purée, whiskey, Labelle’s vanilla syrup and cream for a perfect fall drink.

On top of the increased wine production and mixed drinks is a full menu of food, events and much, much more. The owners are collaborating with local food establishments like the Black Forest Cafe, and have their own culinary chef on staff for their light bites menu.

The menu will be seasonal and give visitors something new to try throughout the year.

Arboleda said that events and weddings have already been booked at the new location, which offers a Celebration Hall for functions up to 200 people, and an outdoor terrace for events up to 100 people. The new Labelle Winery will feature a vaulted ceiling Celebration Hall for functions of up to 200 people. There is also a Vintage Room for gatherings of up to 36 people.

The winery will also turn into a destination for weekly music nights and other community events.

Labelle has 1,500 grapevines growing that will be ready for production in three years: Noiret (red), Chancellor (red), Seyval Blanc (white), Petite Amie (white) and Cayuga (white). They are installing five 23-foot fermentation tanks from Italy to produce their next batch of wine. The process of taking the grapes from "ground to table" takes about a year.

Amy Labelle said that anybody can sponsor a one of these many vines and become a part of the winery’s history. Members of the Vineyard Club get a name on the vine, one bottle of wine a year and exclusive access to VIP events at the winery for $95 a year.

“We want them to be connected to the land,” said Labelle. “We want people to really feel that this is their place.” Visit their website for more information on joining the Vineyard Club.

Red carpet grand opening events are also planned for October, with invitations soon going out to their newsletter subscribers. Sign up for the Labelle Winery newsletter for updates on these events.

The Labelle Winery owners said they are eagerly awaiting the opening of the new winery as a relaxing, approachable cultural destination and relaxation spot for all. For more information, visit their website at Labellewinerynh.com.
