Amherst Board of Selectmen chair Dwight Brew said that his contributions have made every community he lived in better.

“Although I only served with George for three years, I quickly learned to admire him for his dedication to both our community and to the employees of the town of Amherst. It is obvious through his service to the towns of Amherst, Milford, Wilton and through Rotary that George recognized the importance of service and helping others. George's hard work and dedication truly made all of our communities better.”

Department heads spoke of the strong support he showed for the people around him.

“George was a stanch advocate for strong and professional public safety agencies in this community,” said Amherst EMS director Brian Gleason. “George was a devoted supporter of Amherst EMS and a dear friend to me”  “I will miss George dearly, however George will forever be in our hearts”

“George was a strong supporter of the police department for many years, and always did his best to make sure that our officers were well cared for. Though I had an opportunity to work directly with him for only a brief period, I will forever miss his quick wit and kindness.  He was a true gentleman, and his dedication to public service will not be forgotten,” said Amherst Police Chief Mark Reams.
