Amherst Tree Lighting Festival Schedule 2012

This staple of the holiday season will get you in the spirit – with or without chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

 

Here is the 2012 Amherst Tree Lighting Festival for Dec. 7, Dec. 8 and Dec. 9.

Friday, Dec. 7 ~ Tree Light-up Night

6:30 p.m. Kickoff – WW I Village Green, across from Moulton's, Tree Lighting Ceremony

7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – walk across the common to supper at the Village Congregational Church, the Lions' Spaghetti Supper.

Saturday, Dec. 8 ~ Santa Saturday

9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Village Congregational Church, Newcomers Breakfast with Santa (for tickets, call 672-2252/ $6 per person)

9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Amherst Fire ~ Police Stations Complex, Girl Scouts Craft Fair and Historical Society Booth

3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Amherst Fire Station, Santa arrives by Fire Truck, Team Earley's Cocoa and Cookies

3 p.m. to  5 p.m., Amherst Police Station, APD Open House, Child-Protective IDs and Fingerprinting by the Amherst Police.

Sunday, Dec. 9 ~ Concerts Sunday!

8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Amherst Fire Station, Pancake Breakfast with Mrs. Claus at the AFD

1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Church Sanctuary, Holiday Concert, by the Amherst Town Band and SHS Acappella Singers

2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Church Community Room, 'Tween Concert Refreshments, by the Nellie W. Perkins Doll Club

3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Church Sanctuary, Holiday Concert, by Congregational Church Choirs

6 p.m., SHS Auditorium, Christmas Around the World Concert, Souhegan Valley Chorus, tickets at door

ALL WEEKEND ~ Project Warmth

Lions Collect new hats, mittens, scarves, socks, coats, snow pants, blankets; bins at the AFD, Congregational Church and Library.

TREE LIGHTING FESTIVAL--what a nondescript name. As I see it right now, I still have the freedom to say Christmas Lighting Festival. Oh, and also MERRY CHRISTMAS!
