Amherst Promotes New Police Sergeant

Sgt. Chad Blake was sworn in at the Amherst Board of Selectmen meeting on Tuesday.

The Amherst Police Department is undergoing many personnel changes this year, and this week's promotion is the latest in that trend.

Senior Patrolman Chad Blake was sworn in as the newest sergeant after 11 years of service in the department.

Amherst Police Chief Peter Lyon said that he has set himself apart with his training and excelled on his testing. He is "very happy" to see him promoted.

Blake lives with his family in Concord, and previously worked for the police department in Waterville Valley. He is excited to have his hard work pay off and to begin his new role at the department.

"The first thing is to become a student, I have a lot of learning," he said.

He is looking forward to continuing his work alongisde his fellow officers, especially recently promoted Lieutenant Anthony Ciampoli, who he sees as a mentor.

Chief Lyon will be retiring from the Amherst Police Department at the end of the month, with an internal candidate likely to take over his position.
