A&E Continues to Grow, 11 Years Later

Roastery hires new wholesale sales manager and café manager

A&E Custom Coffee Roastery in Amherst, preparing to enter its 11th year as a retail and wholesale coffee roaster and purveyors of fine teas, has added two new members to its team.

“I am really excited about these new hires,” said Emeran Langmaid, owner of A&E Custom Coffee Roastery, “When you have been around for more than 10 years, you need to make sure you hire people that have a fresh perspective on the industry, but have also developed an innate understanding of the business. I believe Matthew and Dan have both.”

Matthew Cowher – The company’s new wholesale sales manager has more than 10 years of experience in business-to-business sales, advertising sales, customer relationship management, (CRM), and all aspects of the product order process.

“Matthew has the skill set that A&E sought in its wholesale division, not only within other companies, but also at a company that he ran for six years. He knows the challenges that small businesses face, and we are lucky to be able to tap into his knowledge and talents,” Langmaid said.

Cowher graduated from Bay Path College of Longmeadow, Mass., in 2001, where he studied at the school’s graphic arts program. After college, he started Ink Slingers Express/DNA Visual Arts, which he owned until 2008. Afterwards, he was the sales manager for Miami Living Magazine, and outside sales/production manager for EmbroidME in Auburn, Mass. Cowher is a resident of Southbridge, Mass.

Daniel DuLong – The Epping, NH, resident is the company’s new café manager. He brings nearly 15 years of experience in the food service industry, in all aspects of the field. DuLong has been in restaurant management, behind the bar, and as a consultant to prospective restaurant owners.

“When you own a coffee shop, peace of mind is so very important,” Langmaid said. “Having a café manager that knows all the little intricacies of food service, of how to manage a staff, and how to be personable to the customers is so vital. Dan gives me that peace of mind.”

Dulong graduated from Springfield College, in Springfield, Mass. He has been in restaurant management for Applebee’s, Bertucci’s, and Pizzeria Uno, and was a consultant for the opening of the Holy Grail Restaurant in Epping. He was also a bartender at the Bedford Village Inn in Bedford, NH.
